Meghan Markle and Prince Harry areset to return to Australiathis week, nearly eight years after their royal visit to the country in October 2018. During that trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Australia, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand, but spent the bulk of the royal tour in Australia.
“There was a long time where… I wasn’t out talking,” Meghan said last year onThe Jamie Kern Lima Showpodcast. “So if you couldn’t hear me, how could I be heard through what I was wearing, if that was what people were focusing on?” During that interview, she spoke about theOutland Denimblack skinny jeans she wore during her Australia trip; the brand employs victims of human trafficking. Meghan said, “By wearing those jeans, I knew it was going to allow them to save more women.”
In another interview with theNew York Timesin 2024, the Duchesssaid, “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting. That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”
